Comedy films, which are now a trend in Punjabi cinema seriously need to work a lot in their writing other than dialogues if they are to survive in the long run. The storyline of Jatts In Golmaal is pretty much like every other comedy film. Screenplay was well written and was equally complimented by the dialogues. This film serves you severe laughter doses. Dilaogues and screenplay were well written but the storyline is disappointing.

Though this film is basically about love, the car is in the air — in some sequences, for real! Not very long ago, Mere Dad Ki Maruti released with the storyline somehow revolving around an automobile. Something similar took place with Ferrari Ki Sawaari last year. But then, four-wheelers alone can’t drive a film. And that’s precisely what happens with Hum Hai Raahi Car Ke.

The very title of this movie is borrowed from the 1992 Mahesh Bhatt film Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke with the premise centered on identity crisis and ensuing confusions. In this case, however, there are no little cute kids to keep you entertained with their antics. Oh yes, there is the ever-entertaining Juhi Chawla but her role is limited to few minutes of mime. Well, that’s that.

 Movie Details:

It’s a Jimmy Shergill production. It stars Jimmy Shergill, Binnu Dhillon and Rana Ranbir as three madcap recovery agents. It marks the gorgeous Neha Dhupia’s Punjabi movie debut. It repeats the combination of Dheeraj Rattan and Navaniat Singh, who have churned out masterpieces every time they have worked together.

All of the above, by itself should be enough to make you want to watch the movie. ‘Rangeelay’ is the story of a trio of recovery agents – Sunny (Jimmy Shergill), Titli (Binnu Dhillon) and Shotgun (Rana Ranbir). They are involved in a variety of crazy, often hilarious situations while going about their job.

Neha Dhupia, in her debut Punjabi role, plays a dare-to-dream, sexy and arrogant girl called Simmi. The leader of the trio, Sunny falls and falls hard for the aura of Simmi. He uses what he knows best – recovery – as a way to get the girl of his dreams. But it isn’t that easy, with the appearance of a ‘twin’ called Vimmi, threatening to ruin the course of the love story.

The screenplay is mostly a delight, but it does fail at some points. The real winner of the movie is the dialogues. They pack a great punch and Jaswinder Bhalla and Binnu Dhillon deliver with effortless ease.

The music, by Jaidev Kumar, is alright, with some marvels like “Headache”, “Yaara Tu” and the fabulous “Boliyaan”. “Boliyaan” is the one track that has the potential to become a long term hit, one that people will play on repeat.

One can find no fault with the acting, especially that of Jimmy Shergill’s, who has returned to Punjabi cinema after almost two years. But the long break doesn’t affect the movie much, because with his various production ventures, Jimmy has carved quite the name for himself in Punjabi cinema. His performance is strong and powerful, totally believable. Neha Dhupia is also quite the revelation, one would never think that this is her first time acting in a Punjabi film. Binnu Dhillon, as usual, was absolutely fantastic, and added a whole other level to the dialogues, providing for a lot of laugh out loud moments.

In summary, ‘Rangeelay’ might have the same old action-comedy love story angle, but the treatment, the performances and the dialogues make this one worth a watch. pr

Hardik (Kunal Khemu) and Luv (Vir Das) are two dope heads, slackers, stuck in dead-end jobs. Thank God for drugs, drinks and Goa (India's party destination). Girls are, of course, a welcome bonus. They hijack their best buddy Bunny (Anand Tiwari) on his way to work, so he can pay for the trip. Luv comes across Luna (Puja Gupta), a beautiful, free-spirited girl, and she casually invites him to exactly what they are looking for - an exclusive underground rave party on a remote island! The party is the brainchild of the macho Russian Mafioso, Boris (Saif Ali Khan), to launch the ultimate drug.

But something is wrong, very wrong, on this island! All of a sudden, they are accosted by these people? Creatures? Things? Where are all the party people? Who are these things? And why are they out to kill them? And who is Boris? And why has this cold-hearted drug-dealing don come to save their lives?

Together they need to get the hell out of the infected island!
